TERM 2 BEGINS AT 8.30AM ON MONDAY 20TH APRIL
YEAR 6 CAMP HUI – PARENTS AND WHĀNAU OF YEAR 6 TAMARIKIWe have our Year 6 camp hui this coming Monday 30 March at 5pm in the staffroom.We will discuss all things camp including Police Vetting, Medical Forms, Gear Lists and Costings for camp. Please ensure you keep this date and time free.
APRIL HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
The Holiday Programme will be running between Tuesday 7th April and Friday 17th April. Check out the details the below and if you are interested in enrolling your tamariki for the holiday programme, complete the online registration form HERE or contact the school office for the April Holiday Programme. REQUEST TO ENROL FORMS NEED TO BE RETURNED BY TUESDAY 31 MARCH.
Other activities will also be included each day of the holiday programme in addition to the main activities listed below.
FANCY FEET DAY
As a way of celebrating the end of Movin’ March, we will be having a Fancy Feet Day tomorrow Friday 27th March. This is an opportunity for the tamariki to dress up their feet. Whether it’s glittering up your Crocs or sparkling up your gumboots. We encourage everyone to join in and have a bit of fun. See the poster at the end of the newsletter
ATTENDANCE
We currently have 75% of all tamariki attending school 90% or more of the time.
We are noticing a trend where we are not able to contact some of our whānau / families and are not being notified about some absences.
Daily attendance is important for tamariki to make the most of learning opportunities and build strong relationships with their peers and staff at school.
If your tamariki are absent from school please contact the office through the parent app, email, the school website, text or call the school.
TOUGH GUY AND GIRL CHALLENGE
Is your Year 3 - 6 child keen to take part in the Tough Guy and Gal Challenge on Friday 8th May?
See the office for a notice/panui and return it back to school as soon as possible.

COLOUR RUN – THIS FRIDAY WEATHER PERMITTING
This event will be held at school on 5pm Friday 27th March, and will involve the kids running / walking around a track while being covered in coloured powder.
We wonder what teachers will get slimed and who will be doing the sliming. 😊

Movin’March – Final week!
We’re very proud of all our tamariki for giving their best effort to walk or wheel a bit more this March. Everyone worked hard and this shows in class. As the term wraps up, please keep encouraging your tamariki – especially on those colder days. It really helps them arrive on time, refreshed and without the stress of morning school runs!
Our classes have entered the WoW Class Challenge,
All classes are in the draw to win some great prizes such as class trips and Wheels days with Pedal Ready.

How to Get Involved
1. Walk or Wheel: If you’re nearby, keep scootering or biking.
2. Park and Walk: Drive partway and walk the last 5-10 minutes to help keep our gates clear.
3. Share the Fun: Send photos of your active journeys by posting on our school Facebook page.
4. Keep getting the passports stamped!
We know our ākonga are motivated by different things; whether it’s health, connection, adventure or te taiao (environment). What about our whānau? Are you up for the challenge?
Classes who enter 5 days of trip data on Te Haerenga o ngā Tamariki can be in to win awesome prize packs – there are prizes from Micro Scooters and MyRide, with Pedal Ready, and class trips to Staglands, Zealandia and Wētā Workshop up for grabs!

WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND THE SCHOOL

MONDAY
We didn’t do much. We did a Ki-o-Rahi practise then did kapa haka.
TUESDAY
WOW!! Ki-o-Rahi tournament! Yay! Best part about the game is…(drum roll!) playing it! So many favourite things:-
About being kaitiaki – blocking the Taniwha from hitting the tupu.
Then my favourite part of the whole game is getting Ki Oma and hitting the pou.
WEDNESDAY
We went to the Mārae! We had poi, strings to do tricks (whai). We also had rakau to play maui/matau and then had cookies!
THURSDAY
We had ripper rugby at Delany Park. I got five tries over the whole day. When all the games ended, we sat down to see what school would win the trophy. Te Ara Whanui won the trophy.

ROOM 13 SCIENCE
Room 13 have been lucky enough to have the Ruamoko science kit this week. As part of learning about Papatuanuku, Room 13 have been learning about different types of volcanoes and how they erupt. They have loved learning about this topic and exploring the world of science.

ROOM 9 ARTWORKS
Tamariki have been working on some masterpieces with Whaea Deb this week. We are really impressed with their imagination, artistic skills and interpretation of the task they were given. The photos of the artwork come up beautifully on the TV in the foyer as well.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES POLICY DOCUMENTATION
As a part of this term policy review, our Board of Trustees is seeking parent and school community input about Alcohol, Drugs, and Other Harmful Substances Policy
Sun Protection, Digital Technology and Online Safety, Cellphones and Other Personal Digital Devices, and Firearms.
In addition to the regular policy review, our board has adopted a policy on AI use in school. This will be able to be viewed on our SchoolDocs website once it has been made live. This policy will be further developed this year and reviewed annually as this is an area that is changing quickly.

KORAUNUI SCHOOL PARENT APP
We have launched the Koraunui School @school Parent App. This is managed through our school student management system that we use for attendance, recording and reporting progress and achievement and other relevant information about tamariki. This is a secure system that is for our school and tamariki.
The App is a part of this system that can be used by the school and parents for communication, reporting absences and information sharing.
You should have received an email with information about how to install the app, set it up and use it. Please contact the office if you didn’t and check we have the correct contact details for you in our system.
We will begin using this app from this week by uploading the newsletter. As we become more familiar with the App we will use it more.

50 Cent Stalls
50 cent stalls are run by our Year 6 students as a part of their camp fundraising This will start this Friday at morning teatime outside Room 12 and 13. Please be mindful that items are all 50 cents, so $2 is the limit per child.

KCC BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE
We will be operating KCC before and after school care programmes again this year. If you are interested in using this service on a permanent or casual basis, please contact the school office.
2PM CLUB
All children will need to be booked into 2PM Club by clicking here Even if they attended last year. Every Wednesday and Friday we run 2pm Club between 2.00-3.00pm for children whose parents book them in for this service. The cost of 2pm Club is $2.00/session. This is to cover the cost of supervision during these times.

BANK ACCOUNTS
Many families keep a small bank account with the school office to pay for items, event or sports fees during the year. If you would like to do this, please come and talk to Maree and she will show you how it works.
